Need a coating or product to take up the slack and protect
Post Body

Hi. I'm putting in this cedar post on front steps using this metal cuff anchored to the slate. Problem is the post is just a bit smaller than the cuff width, and I'd like to coat the post with something below the cuff line to protect from the weather.

I had thought to wrap in in galvanized or coat the area with some thicker rubberized type of material. There must be a better way

Any suggestions?
