Help with lateral adjustment, Stanley no4
Post Body

My plane iron keeps moving laterally after only taking a few shavings. Resulting in my iron going massively off square while planing and digging into the wood in one corner. Lateral adjuster feels very loose compared to my other no4 which is quite stiff to move. Any tips on how to resolve this? The only thing I can think of is that I sprayed loads of WD40 onto it and let it soak for a few weeks before I restored it (to help lift the rust). I think that’s made everything too lubricated. It’s the same with the depth adjuster, it feels like it has no resistance at all when turned either way. Any thoughts?
