Moving a new hamster into a new cage

We got our little hammy Leslie on Sunday, and we decided to get him a new cage as the one we had initially seemed too small. I was just wondering when we should move him over? I'm not sure if we should do it sooner before he adjusts to his old cage or later on once he is fully settled in our flat. Thanks in advance for replies!
