Hamster stopped running on wheel and only tries to escape

I got my hamster on Easter Sunday, he’s a few months old syrian. he was a few months when I got him. He ran on his wheel every night pretty much, but the past week or so he hasn’t gone on it. Idk if it’s because I cleaned his cage? All he does now is climb on top of the wheel and attempt to escape. He refuses to run on it. Idk what to do
