Aspen and hay vs paper for bedding?

I am using only aspen bedding because it’s cheap and my hamster seems fine as it is. But should I add hay? Is aspen hay together just as good as paper for bedding, or is it still worse and I should just get paper bedding altogether? Also, if I were to add hay, how much hay should I add?
Hope to get a response from someone who has tried aspen and hay only and can tell their experience.
