I have a syrian hamster, her name is lola and she's quite large, and full of personality.
Her cage is very big and deep which means she gets a lot of bedding, this bedding doesn't get changed often, I'd say once every month or two, only when it's really necessary, when her bedding gets changed if we feel that she is dirty or she smells bad then we give her a bath.
We put her in a very shallow bath of slightly warm water (about baby bath water temperature) and use baby shampoo because it's not harsh on the skin, we also make sure to keep her head dry, we gently wash her then dry her off with a towel.
Looking into it now, ive found a lot of sources that say you can bath them, lots that say you can't and lots that say you can but they don't like it.
Lola is very cooperative with her baths, she plays around in the water, allows you to clean her without any issues and really enjoys the drying with the towel so I'm sure it's not stressing her out.
Is it safe to continue giving her these baths when necessary?
