I love the way the game plays, the sandbox is great, the maps all feel good to play, and every weapon has it's place. The challenge system not only doesn't adhere to that, but it's not even working properly. Like many of us, I also want to see a change to how xp is handled, but it's worth mentioning that the current system if executed better would strike an okay balance until the whole thing is fixed.
A. It's unacceptable that challenges don't track properly. How am I supposed to know that a warthog self destructing after I've damaged it, killing it's passengers, doesn't count as destruction in the challenge? I've killed 3 or more players with a sentinel beam and some how the challenge says I never killed anyone with it. This and plenty of other examples are devastating, especially because we already have to change our play styles to rank up. Of anything in the game, this needs to be fixed asap.
B. 15 kills with a shade turret... how will anyone ever complete that challenge while the shade turret is immobile, spawns once on only one map, and is weak, will be beyond me. It should be worth 10 tiers in the pass. Why aren't their challenges with weapons that are more then kills based? Strip shields/do damage with dynamo grendades/plasma pistol? Get Kills and Assists with Shock Rifle or Ravager? Challenges that are more flexible and forgiving would allow for the progression to be less frustrating and more exciting. Also challenges that encourage the use of the secondary fire/mechanisms that make the weapons special would help the challenges feel less crappy. The objective based challenegs are also great.
C. Challenge swaps shouldn't be random. Let us choose a challenge, or a category of challenge(objective, kills, gamemode win).
