Would halo 5 had been over all, better without Osiris and Blue Team?
Post Body

Just a thought I keep having. I feel like the story could have been way more better if it was just chief and Locke. Before the game came out I was imagining playing as chief and getting to the end of a level or something, chief starts walking through a door and Locke is just standing in the middle and then Duel Of The Fates starts playing.

We needed more story behind Locke to understand him better so the pay off would have more weight when he confronted the chief. I think without 3 other characters with him, we could have had more time and more opportunities for Locke to show who he his, why he does what he does, and how he got here.

Blue team really has no purpose to be in the game. I'm sorry but blue team really just gives exposition about the situation at hand but have no role other than shooting at bad guys with the chief. Same goes with Osiris. Like yeah we got better understanding that Tanaka grew up on a glassed planet and Vale knows a lot of stuff about sanghelli but that's it. Non of that exposition they give plays into the plot at all other than "oh Tanaka just happened to be from a glassed planet like the one we are on...neat?" And then, "oh vale knows a lot about sanghelli and we are on sanghellios but will that contribute to the plot other than vale talking about how sanghelli are cool? No? Neat."

They could have made the plot so much better if these characters actually used their experience and abilities to move the story forward. Like Kelly could run really fast so maybe there would be a part of a mission where she Is running fast as hell to get to a bomb or something while the rest of blue team shoots the bad guys. Or vale could speak sanghelli so she could have negotiated to get the swords of sanghellios to agree to Osiris to investigate the guardian even though human involvement in the civil war has lead to more sanghelli to lean towards the jul mdama side.

I feel like there were so many missed opportunities with having blue team and osiris. But overall it really seems like it would have made more sense for the story that was told to just have Chief and Locke alone without the fireteams. What do you guys think?
