Season 5’s lore behind the infected Spartan/s
Post Body

The infected Spartans depicted in season 5’s images are wearing MK V [B] MJOLNIR armour. Lore wise, does this not imply that there are still Spartan III’s out doing missions in their original suits? Wouldn’t the UNSC upgrade their gear if so? If they’re Spartan IV’s, why would they be issued older equipment?

According to the information in this season’s intel drop thing, it was a fireteam who specialises in Flood containment that got infected. A Flood containment fireteam made up of Spartan III’s in their original suits, not Spartan IV’s in HAZMAT gear or something? Isn’t that odd to anyone else?

If I have incorrect information or if I’m missing something, please let me know as I want to know what the go is with this.

Also on a side note, the CORRUPTOR protocol is said to be enacted if a Spartan has been infected by the Flood AND the safeguards (the suit exploding) have failed. Is it not possible that before this containment failure, there have been cases of Spartans being infected but the failsafes worked and simply not made it past being blacked out by ONI? I say ONI because, well, it’s ONI.

So essentially, this case might not actually be the first, but the only one that has managed to fully infect a Spartan successfully by turning off the safeguards in the suits before self destruction.

Tell me your thoughts.
