I listen to a lot of old time radio shows, and many of them mention cider - spiced or plain - and doughnuts. I was curious as to when they fell out of favor. A few rough Google searches seems to indicate that it was probably in the 1970's as people got more cautious about giving out homemade or unwrapped treats.
