I feel ya. I grew up decorating, and continued decorating after I moved out. Where I live now we used to do close to 400 every Halloween. Then the big, fancy, neighborhoods got built. When it got down to 5 kids I quit decorating and gave everything away. Last night, didn't even turn the lights on. People across the street had 1 show up.
People I work with all talked how they loaded up and drove through the neighborhoods with "nice" houses. Guess I live in the slum now. Very frustrating that folks don't walk through their own neighborhoods anymore. Then they complain that at 8:15 pm the privately hired cops ran them out of the "nice" neighborhoods with threats of arrest and closed public streets.
As an old fart I look back at a lot of things from decades ago, but neighbors and neighborhoods being almost a family I miss the most. To those who haven't given up, we see you, we love you!
