Per the advice of Dr. Strang I've been trying to use online ordering/pickup as much as possible for grocery stores so as to minimize contact with others. I try to plan ahead as to what I'll need for a few weeks so I don't have to keep hitting up the grocery store repeatedly (another recommendation).
I'm normally a Superstore shopper and Sobeys doesn't have online ordering yet so I've been using them. Haven't tried Walmart yet.
First order, over $300 worth of a wide variety of items so I could stock up for my girlfriend and I for a few weeks. Had to order about 1 week out. Day of delivery online ~$100 of items (1/3) were available. Joseph Howe Superstore, I believe the largest east of Quebec.
Second time I'll try a different one, Young Street Superstore. Ordered 5 days out. $130 or so. Got the notice today that it's available for pickup and they were able to find $7.86 worth of items. (6% or so)
So at that point I have to scramble around last minute to a bunch of Shoppers or go to Superstores anyway so I have food so it kinda defeats the whole purpose of staying inside and ordering online.
Am I just really unlucky here? Trying to be patient in these trying times, but having trouble understanding how some places like Shoppers are stocked so well, which is owned by the same company as Superstore, but given a week's notice Superstore can only source a small percentage of the items?
