Where I grew up, there was a fantastic amateur theatre that took countless volunteers to put on a twelve show season annually. It was a huge part of my life and I think it was integral to making me in to the person I am today.
Unfortunately I now work nights and that’s a difficult scene for me to get involved with so I haven’t been able to really explore the Halifax theatre community.
My son isn’t huge in to sports and we’ve been struggling to find activities he would be in to and I figure theatre would be right up his alley.
Is there an amateur theatre group that holds open auditions or is looking for volunteers to get involved backstage or lighting or anything really? I’d love to get him involved and see what he thinks.
I know Neptune does summer camps for kids but kinda missed the boat on that one this year.
Just any ideas of where to start? He’s fourteen. Super outgoing, fun, positive kid.
