Watching people walking along the roads then having to climb over snow banks to press buried beg buttons then climbing back over just to cross the road pisses me off.
I don't even understand why they exist at certain intersections where the light cycle time is easily long enough to fit in a pedestrian light when they aren't pressed. And even if the light cycle had to be made 5 seconds longer or something to accommodate always having a pedestrian light by default would that not be better?
It's plain disrespectful, basically saying that drivers time is more important than pedestrians, and it's downright cruel in harsh weather conditions to make people go out of their way, or wait for extra light cycles just because they didn't press it 2 seconds earlier or whatever.
Anyway rant over, fuck beg buttons. They should only exist in scenarios where the pedestrian light is enabled either way but the button just extends the time its up or triggers it faster.
