Someone offered for me to buy her salon suite for 10k (the amount put in Initially for the place)I told her I could do a down payment of 5k and continue to pay $500 till I’m paid off. She makes around 7k. And I myself with my clients now make around 3k(but my current salon is taking over 50% a week.so reality I make 6-7k). I also should add everything is included in the salon, capes, bowls, color, literally everything to start a salon suite. She’s also offering to send me full client list with formulas and everything and then email them to endorse me as taking over her business. The salon is right by a lake that’s in a very well off area, it’s not too far from my current salon.
Just trying to see if this is a good business movement or not. I feel like it’s life changing for the hope I’m stuck in right now at my salon. We have to buy our own color on top of 50% so I’m struggling to even do my job cause they take soooo much. She also won’t move me up to a higher level when I’m 4 years out of school and do really good hair.. so I’m just in a hard place and really wanna be on my own so I don’t know what to do besides take this opportunity
I also understand that aswell that not many people understand the back end of things. I’ve worked from high up receptionist basically running the salon to going to school getting my license building one salon and wanting to build another thank you for your input
That’s what I feel like too especially for business that’s making 7k a month and I know I can scale it to 10k or more.
Mostly everyone I know it costed them over 5k to start their salon suite. So I do think it’s worth 5k considering what everything I’m getting for the space. The thing I’m trying to figure out how renegotiate is the clients for 5k. She showed me her profits and losses from starting the business and she spent around 10k to open the salon.
She ended up moving to Italy and it’s going great for me I have had a decent amount of her clients and have been able to grow my business actually how I want it to be instead of controlled by someone else. But appreciate the comment
Especially the situation I’m in now is so shady and bad I’m so scared for doing taxes and just still being in business w the owner cause she seem very money hungry.
Why would I want cheap furnishings? I’d rather pay for luxury than just get cheap to get by.
Wait the landlord? I’m confused why I would do that. And I understand but I’m only finding suites that are $300 a week
Yes it does I believe I’m getting the written agreement today from him on the property with him.
It’s a landlord that owns the property. And I’m sure it will be the $750 security deposit plus a prorated amount for this month if I start soon, I would do that but I have no money right now to buy everything else included in the salon, if I did that I would just have an empty room, cause my 3k I make in my suite in another state goes to my bills right now cause my salon job here is just really bad I get over $1000 taken from me each week. Including product sales until I reach $800 and then I only get 8%.
She’s essentially retiring, she has to go help her parents with a home they are renovating and doesn’t know if they will be moving back to the state we are in currently, wants to move back to other family after that cause she wants to have kids. And I do understand that for sure. I’m wondering if I can renegotiate that 500 a month based on if clients come to me or not..
I share another space where I started my career that I go back to every 6 weeks. and have been trying to grow where I moved to
I’m not happy with just making 3k ? lol I want to expand my business and myself? That’s for my suite I travel to every 6 weeks for my clients I retained in another state where I started my career. Just asked for the profit and losses. And the written agreements on everything.. but that it didn’t seem like a bad option. Especially cause the salon I’m in now is def doing some illegal stuff with how we get paid and I really need to get out

No suites I’ve found have the price I’m able to get with this place. plus having to set up everything like the bowl and chair, and decorations. And all the little things from bowls, capes, robes, she even has tools in their for me, a bunch of color and things like that, that I feel like aren’t a big amount of pricing but add up and the salon is fully stocked salon. Should I try to renegotiate the extra 5k cause that’s technically the client list just for if none do come In not annoyed I paid for that?
