Are color sealants worth it?

I'm new to the hair coloring world, and I've bleached and dyed my hair blue. First time around there was so much bleeding for the first couple of days (literally got on everything my head got into contact with lol), but eventually stopped. For this next time around I heard about color sealants and wanted to get everyone's opinion on it. Do they actually work?
