New models for 2019
Post Body

It's not even NAMM yet, but a few new models have popped up in various retail stores, as well as on Hagstrom's German blog.

New retroscape model - H-IIN

The twin of the previously released H-II, but with humbuckers and a different headstock (the same as the original HIIN).

It has Custom 60 Alnico 5 humbucking pickups, which are supposed to sound really close to the original HIIN's.

This model seems to be available in:

The official recommended retail price is unknown, but it seems to be in the ballpark of €575 to €590 ($650 to $675).

60th anniversary H-II (limited edition)

Seems similar to the Retroscape H-IIN, but with Lundgren humbuckers (the Standard Fantomen, the Nameless Ghouls' signature model has humbuckers from Lundgren as well).

All of the new 60th anniversary models seem to have a set of these pickups (Lundgren Design AlNiCo Humbucker No.2 in the neck and No.5 in the bridge - except the Fantomen, which seems to have No.5 both in the neck and bridge position [maybe a typo on the official page? The standard Fantomen has No.2-No.5]).

The 60th anniversary H-II does not have the old school vibrato (which the Retroscape model has), but a fairly standard tune o matic looking bridge. It also seems to have upgraded tuning machine heads, called Ratio®. A 60th anniversary inlay is visible on the headstock, which makes the Hagstrom logo rotated and moved to the top, unlike on the Retroscape model.

This model seems to be available in:

The official recommended retail price is unknown, but it seems to be in the ballpark of €700 ($800), making it about 20% more expensive than the Retroscape, non-limited version.

60th anniversary Super Swede (limited edition)

Again, Lundgren set of humbuckers, new machine heads and a 60th anniversary inlay.

This model seems to be available in:

The official recommended retail price is unknown, but it seems to be in the ballpark of €770 ($875), making it about 15-20% more expensive than the standard Super Swede model.

Limited Edition Fantomen (limited edition)

These literally sparkle, everybody.

Again, the new machine heads. The standard Fantomen has Ludgren pickups as well, but it seems the 60th anniversary's neck model is different:

Standard Fantomen:

  • Neck pickup: AlNiCo-2 No. 2-Humbucker (Lundgren Design)
  • Bridge pickup: AlNiCo-2 No. 5-Humbucker (Lundgren Design)

Limited Edition Fantomen:

  • Neck pickup: AlNiCo-2 No. 5-Humbucker (Lundgren Design)
  • Bridge pickup: AlNiCo-2 No. 5-Humbucker (Lundgren Design)

This model seems to be available in:

The official recommended retail price is unknown, but it seems to be in the ballpark of €925 ($1000), making it about 25-35% more expensive than the standard Fantomen model.

Summary

Model Price*
Retroscape H-IIN €575-590 ($650-675)
60th Anniversary H-II €700 ($800)
60th Anniversary Super Swede €770 ($875)
Limited Edition Fantomen €925 ($1000)

*The official recommended retail prices are unknown, I've averaged the retailers that stock the new models.
