Any fix suggestions connecting to vpn

I am on Ubuntu on one of my old laptops strictly for htb I’m trying to do the starting point i downloaded both udp and tcp files. Originally I would run the commands. ( Cd Downloads, openvpn startingpoint.ovpn ) It would give me error message reading exited due to fatal error I then added tried to add a sudo command in front and moved the file to desktop and it said initialization completed. But won’t let me type another command and says it’s connected. Even when it says exited due to fatal error it would say I’m connected on the website but not let me ping or nmap the spawned machine.
