Before any further writeup - a disclaimer: the post is subreddit related because it's about achieving native wlan functionality. That said - the actual reading:

The overall premise is this - create a pcb to host a standard BGA519 package on a regular pci-e pcb with 3 antennas. MIT licence. You, as an enthusiast end user will have the files you can send over to your pcb maker of choice, they can either send a blank pcb for manual population or they can solder on the basics while the actual package is left over for the user to solder on at home. Zero legal issues to it, pretty straightforward idea. I get why usual suspects in the space won't do it, companies (Fenvi) would get sued into oblivion. But actual end users can do whatever they like and that's where this post comes in.

I already made some preliminary drawings and sets and I can share my eagle project. It's for a $17 bga519 package, standard 0.12mm. Total cost should orbit around $55 per board, depending on the mask. I'll make a very small 8-layer batch in green and I'll get fancy if signal integrity is a-ok and if things turn out right.
