Alright, so when you search a wrecked vehicle there is currently a decent chance you can recover a metal sheet or two maybe some scraps of cloth, or bits of metal scrap. That's pretty cool. Now, what if you searched a non-wrecked or new vehicle? I'd expect to get more from it.
My current MO is to find a car, use that car to transport building mats in bulk from my favorite collection sites. If I find another car along the way... I take it. Having a backup car is critical for me if something happens such as an accidental death of a friend- to get them back to safety after a spawn, etc.
Occasionally, I end up with more cars than I really need. I sometimes blow them up to make room for more to take spawn on a server as that is my understanding of how it works. Some folks don't. Maybe if there was some incentive to scrapping excess cars it'd make it more likely that folks don't hoard them for long periods of time. If you successfully get a truck and safely drive it to your base, it'd be pretty cool if you could "dismantle" or salvage materials from it, like 5-10 metal sheets, a good bit of scrap, etc etc.
The issue then could be that people would just collect and tear down cars to force spawns to happen faster and produce. Either make a rather expensive tool, (either it takes a while to process a car making it dangerous, or it is costly so a noob can't just erase your car when you park somewhere for a brief moment).
This still won't be as fast as collecting normally. Also, you can always predict where a car will spawn next or who might be waiting for it on the other side of the map :o)
Ok. That's my big idea of the day. Time to run to class.
