So, I have a player who wants to use Ritual Magic. I noticed in Magic that it says:
"Magery adds to core skill, college skills, and spells."
Does this mean that you add them sequentially, or compounded. Example:
I have Ritual Magery 2 and an IQ of 12.
I buy Ritual Magic (VH) at IQ 2 for [16]. Great. I have Ritual Magic-14 (IQ 2) [16], but actually end up with IQ 4, thanks to the 2 from Ritual Magery, so I have Ritual Magic-16.
Now, I buy Fire College (VH) at IQ 2 for [16], which gives me IQ 4 as well, ultimately. I have Fire College-16
So I then buy Fireball as a hard technique, defaulting to Fire College. It has a Prereq count of 4, which means it starts off at Fire College-4, which Gives me Fireball-12 at no cost. Now, do I then *also* apply my Magery to that, for a 2, to take it to Fireball-14? That seems like double-dipping to me.
Or, do I buy everything normally, and add the 2 from Magery *on top of* what I have paid to start with? That would give me Ritual Magic-16 (IQ 2 2 (from Magery)), Fire College-16 (IQ 2 2 (from Magery)) and Fireball-12 (Fire College-4, which would be a 10 before applying the Magery to the Fire College, and then adding the 2 from Magery to the individual spell)
I hope I am making sense here. This has confused me for awhile, but I've never bothered to dip my toes into Ritual Magic before.
