Intro to Working as a Gunsmith

Hello all. First a slight bit of backstory. I've been interested in guns since before I can remember. Its a very easy subject for me to talk about and I love everything about them. I have no experience with true gunsmithing. The most I've done is build two P80 frames with a dremel, drill and a knife.
My main question is what is the best way for me to get into the business of building, working on and selling guns? Should I try to get a job with a local gunstore and learn from the gunsmith there or go a different route?
