Stock gets stuck in threading when fully closed
Post Body

Bought used with a handful of magpul mods. The issue Iā€™m having is that with this exposed threading, if I were to fully close my stock it would get stuck and require a good deal of force to reopen it.

Any ideas on a solve? Thanks!

The threading is exposed to that degree if the buffer tube isn't screwed in enough.

Check the lower and see where the buffer retaining pin slot is. The buffer tube should have a slot in it and that slot should marry with a pin that sits in a hole in the lower receiver.

If the slot on your buffer tube doesn't match (roughly) where that hole is, it's not screwed in far enough.

Back off the castle nut, screw the buffer tube down one or two more turns, then re-tighten the castle nut. Don't forget to stake it. And don't use threadlocker.

You don't need a longer castle nut, you don't need to file the threads down, you don't need a new stock, you just need to screw the buffer tube in more.
