Go to methods for removing a stubborn AR barrel nut?

I picked up a complete upper a while back and I've just now gotten to breaking it down. The barrel nut will not budge. I'm a little concerned that whoever put it together may not have greased it when they put the barrel nut on.
I've heated it with a heat gun and a butane torch, I've used penetrating oil, and plenty of just plain beating on it with a mallet. Won't budge.
I'd like to know some other people's methods for removing a barrel nut that's being stubborn. I'd prefer to do it non-destructively but if I have absolutely no other option then it is what it is.
