Retro Smith and Wesson semiauto? How do I choose one?

So I have been looking at picking up a used S&W like a 59, a 910, a 915 or a 5906, but what do they all mean? Most of them look the same ergonomically. I'm just wondering if there is really much of a difference between the different models.
