So I posted a few days ago looking for advice on locating an old Taurus 689, and got a lot of Taurus related hate. However, buried in all the vitriol was some real advice. So I took it all into consideration and while in my local gun shop this evening on the verge of ordering a new Taurus model 65 I chanced to look in the used guns case and lo and behold there was an old Dan Wesson in the exact side I was looking for.
After some haggling with the guy I would up trading in my old Mossberg 500 pump on it and paid in cash less than the cost of the Taurus .38 he was offering to order. It's an older revolver but locks up tight as hell. No play front to back and BARELY noticeable play left to right. Checked the timing. Perfect. Flawless. I think I made the right choice and it's in part to r/guns advice. Thanks guys.
