How is this legal? And WHY would you want to do this to your AR?

I tried googling some reviews or legalities of it but came up with nothing. Is this legal b/c it's considered part of the grip? God, it makes your AR look retarded.
Sorry first post...ever. still trying to figure everything out. I literally made an account just for this because I haven't been able to find anything on it. Been a long time lurker and loved learning from all of you guys. so I figured, I may as well jump in.
