Do you really need to remove old gun oil if switching to a new gun oil?
Post Body

I’ve been using a mix of Breakfree CLP, Ballistol, and Rem Oil for years, and I’ve just now heard it’s supposedly necessary to strip all of an old oil prior to applying a new oil? Is this actually necessary or just something people say? I’ve never personally seen a problem with mixing these oils. I plan to switch to Slip 2000 EWL as my new standard, so I’m wondering if I need to remove the old oils or just start using the new stuff.
