Hey guys I work as a park ranger/forest ranger for the nps, usfs, blm ect. Most of my jobs are seasonal and can be in different locations across the United States. Even though my job does not require me to carry a firearm I like to bring some with me every job for recreation and self protection outside of work from animals while camping/hiking & for 2 legged animals. Iāve been wanting to buy a ācamp rifleā or a ārangersā rifle something that could be used to defend yourself against anything from bears to coyotes or humans but be light enough to hike with for short-medium distances. My budget is about $1500 my thoughts are marlin sbl, Ruger Alaskan 338, Ruger gunsite scout, Ruger sfar. I know thereās a lot of rugers but they just seem to have a lot of āwilderness gunsā idk if yāall have any other recommendations please let me know or just let me know which I should pick !
