Firstly, let me say, I have ALWAYS believed less is more. Hence my current dilemma.
I currently have a Fulltone ‘69 Fuzz (Side note, trying to sell it because of the frustrations I’m having). I play in a 3 piece blues rock band, and I’ve decided before COVID hit, that I needed to have a legit board with actual effects that could actually help me improve my tone, rather than just using the fuzz into a clean Fender-like amp. (was using a Peavey Classic 30, since upgraded to a Blues Deluxe that is WAY too powerful, but I’ve got solutions for that)
Anyway, here’s the issue. My OD (TC El Cambo/Mocambo) works great when it’s always on. Like I feel like I get a good rhythm tone out of it, and lately, I’ve been using it for some lead stuff too. When I kick on the fuzz, it’s almost as if my mids have went away completely, and it sounds almost as if someone is choking my signal, so I never turn it on.
I know stacking a fuzz and an OD can work magic, but I’m having trouble finding it with this combo. Should I get a different fuzz? Should I abandon it altogether and get another OD for boost and color? I’m dumb. Please help!
