I got the JRAD hot rubber monkey v2 over the weekend and couldn’t be happier. Initial observations from running it through a Fender Hot Rod Deluxe:
It is an incredibly well built pedal. It’s heavy and could be used for home defense in the event of a home intrusion.
Tone is full-bodied and thick overdriven tone, but never in a distorted way. It ventures into slight breakup but never overbearing. If it were a food it would be a warm oversized cinnamon bun with just the right amount of icing and sugar flakes. Not too sweet, warm, and hits the spot.
When gain is dialed way down acts as an excellent boost.
The top end and mid-range controls are pretty cool features that create a range of possibilities. TBH I’m still trying to dial everything in but I honestly can’t make it sound bad. I’m pretty okay at making pedals sound bad.
It pairs well with other ods I have and makes all pedals I’ve stacked with it sound better (JB Archer, Sparkle drive Keely mod, T-Rex Gristle King, full drive mosfet, and Klon ktr).
It’s quite possibly the loudest pedal I’ve ever had possible additional home invasion defense measure?
No seriously this thing is freaking loud.
