Correct way to hold guitar

I had a guitar teacher recently say the best way to hold guitar, electric as well, is on your left knee at a 45 degree angle. I have only seen this done for classical guitar, and in one YouTube video shown above.
Anybody ever heard this or know if this is considered the “best” way to hold electric guitar as well? And if so why don’t most players do this?
