One of my girls is a rescue. Her previous owner got tired of them, basically tossed her and her two cage mate in their cage outside (Florida, in summer, the other two unfortunately didn't make it). They didn't have water, they were being fed dog kibble and potatoes, and there were bugs in their bedding which was literally decomposing at that point.

Well, apparently that's all Penelope needed to go back to her wild roots. 😂 She practically rattles the bars of her cage for food. Prolonged eye contact while screaming when she's slightly hungry. Will run around her cage like Sonic, eat everything in sight, violently yanks food out of your hands... She has very nearly climbed out of the top of her cage. It's hilarious and slightly intimidating because she is literally willing to fight God.
