TW: brief mentions of guinea pig death.
I used to have three guinea pigs. The oldest, Lue Lue, passed away a week ago. I am aware that for a guinea pig to be happy, they have to have a friend. However, one of my two pigs, Buttercream, has albinism. She is completely blind and mostly deaf. Buttercream is a healthy pig other than that. I love her a lot, and I know her sister does too. Unfortunately, due to her disabilities, she can not play with my other guinea pig, Dot, as a "normal" guinea pig would. Due to her blindness, they do not explore together, and because she is deaf, she rarely, if ever, makes noises.
So, should I get a new guinea pig? I personally do not feel ready for a new guinea pig. I am still very torn up about Lue Lue dying. However, I do not want Dot to become depressed. I was thinking of waiting till I go home for Christmas break to get a new pig. (I am an RA, my guinea pigs free-rome in my single dorm room.) That will not be for about another month and a half. Will that be too long to wait? I just want my girls to be happy.
