I'll be visiting Guatemala with my girlfriend this September for 1 month as the first part of our 5 month trip through CA, and we're looking for recommendations for what to do and see. We're going to be working remotely for a couple hours a day, but other than that we will be completely free. So far we've booked the first 2 weeks at Lake Atitlan, and we're thinking of seeing Antigua and Tikal as well.
One time constraint: We arrive to Guatemala on Sept 17. Then on Oct 12 we are flying to America, returning to Guatemala on Oct 17. Then possibly staying in Guatemala for another week before moving on to Belize or Honduras.
We're looking for somewhat budget friendly options, but we're ok spending a bit more money if needed. We're Canadian, fairly active and love being outdoors. Not super into fine dining, shopping, or big city centers. We are both indigenous and are interested in more local indigenous experiences if possible. Our plans are very loose at this point, so any suggestions are welcome. Thanks!
