New player - how to complete missions online without being killed?

Hi new player here I got the game yesterday. I still haven’t been able to complete even one task online without being blown up by another player in a jet. Changing lobbies doesn’t seem to help they’re in every lobby. Playing solo in online doesn’t let me do certain tasks. Stuck at 50k cash because I can’t finish anything without being killed. Any tips?
