I ordered food on Grubhub, with a $10 off promo code. I added a 15% tip (~$7) and placed the order. Free delivery, I’m fairly certain the delivery man works for the actual restaurant and not GrubHub.
When the order came, I just grabbed it. Later, I noticed the receipt stapled to the bag was not from Grubhub, but the restaurant’s with original pricing (total actually more than the total paid). No mention of a tip on it. This isn’t the first time it’s happened, actually - different places. I fear the restaurant is not actually giving the tip to the driver, but using it to cover the gap of the promo or something. I would feel really bad if the drivers aren’t getting their tips.
This may not be a question for you, as you work for Grubhub and not The restaurant directly. But maybe you have some insight?
