Hi! New To The Group, SCROG Questions & Pics of Current Grow and Beautiful Buds I've Grown Previously.
Post Body

Hello, and thank you for reading this long first post and having me in the group! Enjoy the photos of some amazing bud I've grown in the past, and let me know if you want to see more, discuss growing cannabis, or need any advice on growing with coco. Here is a tease!

My first grow - Booberry Cookies RBX by Ethos Genetics

For reference, I have been growing cannabis indoors solely using coco-coir for a few years. I am medically licensed to do so and live in a legal state (rec and medical). That being said - self-sufficiency is my objective at all times when growing, and I am always trying to grow the dankest possible bud over any other factor (time or yield, although yield matters almost as much as quality as I don't have the space to have another tent and run a separate veg cycle as one begins flower, while harvesting one ending flower, and so on.)

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Questions from here on out are marked in bold to make this more readable.

So I have been growing 4 Feminized Orangutan Dream plants (Dragon's Flame Genetics) which were planted from seed (started germination 09/09/23) in Rapid Rooters and a dome in my grow tent with the light on 18 hours during germination, then 16 as a seedling and 18 again in veg. All four sprouted green leaves within four days; once they were of appropriate height I transferred them after rolling each square in myco (mycelium powder promoting root growth and oxygenation).

Oct 15th

During transfer I made the mistake of transferring directly to the 3 gallon fabric pots which are placed in the center of the tent, with the edges about 4-6 inches from one another (yes, rather close, I know I should have moved them out a bit but I feel like it's too late to and they have still grown in just fine). Next time I will transfer to solo cups or the equivalent in size and work my way up. How many transfers do you tend to do, and with what size pots? How far away do you keep your pots from one another, and does this change throughout the grow? I originally centered mine the best I could because of the direct transfer from seedling to such large pots, and wanted the most light possible on them to increase my chances of a successful grow. Luckily I didn't notice any problems planting them directly into what is their "final" pot (probably), but I did have to water them literally barely anything and only in the center for quite some time, making it difficult and tedious to promote proper root growth. That being said, they are fine now.

They are growing in a 4x4x7~ AC Infinity grow tent with an AC Infinity fan controller, exhaust fan, fabric pots & drainage pans, and carbon filter. The plants are in 3-gallon fabric pots over AC Infinity drainage pans, using coco coir, perlite, and worm castings as my base. I give it nutes every day except the seventh during which I flush. I topped plants last one week ago, and the tops are coming in fine with the exception of one, in which I topped it diagonally using a strange method I heard of which never works and will never be tried by myself again. I plan on waiting one week to flower. I have been watering the plants 4L total daily, at 6.4-6.5ph with 4ml/L coco connoisseur grow (soon to be coco connoisseur flower), nutrient ratios according to the bottles at full strength for veg and silica supplemented (4ml/gal) among pH down. I test the pH once every couple of weeks with an Apera pH tester (which I haven't calibrated in years smh)... I use 3.1ml General Hydro or Advanced Nutrients (can't recall) pH down per 4L or ~3.875 per 5L water. The water is through a Pur brand filter on my sink.

Two days ago I switched to 5L of water / feed daily and adjusted my nutes etc. accordingly. I am wondering what your opinions are on how much I am watering them according to their current pot size and requirements. I might have had to empty the (rather deep, multi-gallon probably) drainage pans once throughout the entire grow. I start watering in the center and work my way outwards, but am having difficulty doing so with the SCROG net and my watering container being big and strangely shaped**. If anyone knows of any specific types of watering containers with long tips, it would be appreciated!**

I am debating if I should put the plants into 5g pots instead. They are already filling the 4x4 space, but I want to make sure I get the most high-quality bud and the highest yield possible. At the same time, they are so intertwined with the screen that there would be a lot of damage taking them out, or I would have to be extremely careful and just cut the current fabric pots off and somehow transplant them - either way it sounds like it could break some branches.

Little branches holding up these smaller, cramped nodes, which a few of my squares have; some of which havent grown tall enough to make it through the screen yet!

The plants have been growing nicely, this is my fifth grow but first SCROG. I have a somewhat uneven canopy as I trained some branches around some parts of the net winding them through whereas other thicker ones I put through their own square, and am almost done filling each square with one node. I un-did this the best I could and rerouted plants through their own holes better, but the consequence contributed to uneven height. How different is too different in terms of height of the lower canopy to highest point; and how close to an LED light is too close for the highest cola in late veg / pre-flower? Some squares have a few nodes that are smaller and from smaller branches that are very thin, I would like to know if I should cut these small ones off or leave them and see if they get bigger during flowering. I used the 4x4 AC Infinity trellis net, which hooks onto each post and caves in as the tent will cave in on the sides due to negative energy if the fan is running hard enough. It is set to auto after setting it up (I don't remember what each parameter is off the top of my head but it's on appropriate settings for veg), and runs with around 74% humidity and at between 74-80 degrees usually before I unzip the door**; is the humidity too high and what can I do to lower it? Also, where should I hang the fan controller thermometer? I keep it in between all the plants dangling.**

Also, do the actual buds need light, or will the leaves provide the energy to them? Can the bud sites be covered up by leaves, is it a waste to cut away parts of fan and sugar (or small fan, idk) leaves that cover bud sites and cannot be tucked, or not? I have been cutting half a leaf at a time or as little as possible with the big fan leaves.

Airflow is nice under the canopy and throughout the grow, although leaves upon leaves cover each other, leaving some without light and me questioning whether or not to remove them, and which ones...

My light is a Vivosun VS4000, and I've been running 18/6, I am on 80% on the dimmer per suggested by the light manual for this phase of veg, with the screen around 24 inches below the light and the lowest part of the canopy just under the screen or barely over it, and the highest parts being about 18 inches from the light, or six inches higher than the lower parts. I try to consistently move it up a little once a week or so or as the plants need it to move to stay within the range of it being 24 inches above the net (with the lowest part of the canopy being at the net), and attempting to keep the highest part of the canopy at 18 inches above the net.

Some branches are showing nodes that are turning a lighter green as they are lower than the tops which have thick fan leaves shading out the nodes. I am worried about them not receiving enough light. Should I trim away more of the top of my canopy? People say mixed things about trimming fan leaves at all, but I have consistently trimmed a little bit (5-7 leaves) every other day or so as needed to let light through. Also, is the plant wasting energy if I have any leaves covered by other leaves? Should I cut these leaves out, or let them grow as they will be higher during flowering? My apologies for all of the questions as I am new to the group, but I appreciate any and all of your advice and wish you all luck in your own growing experiences.

How the buds were forming with LST & wire stakes training (the Ethos Strawberry and Strawberry R1 were my first grow, so I didn't really know what I was doing but they turned out absolutely amazing.)

A beautiful crown of that first grow - Strawberry Cookies R1 by Ethos Genetics grown in 2021

Drooling over those trichs, must have been beginners luck...

Another attempt at some other Ethos Genetics Strain I can't remember off the top of my head, but this was 2022.
