cannot create account

I’ve been trying to create a new account but am running into a problem.
When I go to put in a password my phone auto generates one, I select ‘choose my own password’ and input my own. Then when I go to the second ‘confirm password’ it auto generates a strong password that removes the original.
I tried creating an account on the Grindr website but apparently you can only do so on the app.
