I've noticed some strange quirks with the timing of messages I get on Grindr, and I'm curious if anyone else has had a similar experience. I'm not a paid subscriber, so if any subscribers would like to weigh in on any changes you found after paying, that would be great.
I work second shift, so part of my problem in finding matches may be my odd hours that I'm available (usually during the day). I'm also in a small to mid-size town, so options may be limited anyway. However, I've noticed if I have an entire day to myself I can keep the app open for 8-10 hours at a time and get zero interactions from anyone. If I close the app, within an hour or so I may randomly get a response from someone. Also, if I open the app by accident when I'm not actually looking and quickly close it, I'll often get a couple of responses then. It's almost like it's tracking my active hours, then randomly showing me online to a broader area outside those hours to draw in more messages, all to try to convince me to come back and waste my time with ads the next time I have time for hookups.
Am I just having really bad luck with timing, or is Grindr manipulating my actual reach to try to keep me engaged with it? Either way I'm having zero luck finding hookups when I actually have time for them, but if the app is just wasting my time to get me to keep it open I'd like to find out so I can just give up on it.
