So I just finished season 4 going into season 5 now. And I will say for the most part I really enjoyed the show. I think the ideas and concepts it pulls out are pretty creative and I love a good monster of the week mystery even if its a bit on the nose at times. I like that the show really took its time to flesh out wesen and the different types, but also peoples reaction to wesen would be a pretty realistic response.
Some things I didn't like was the whole Juliette losing her memory plot, like I would be alright this went on for a few episodes but that thing just went on for waaaaay to long, I was already so over it in 3 episodes, though I appreciate the show taking its time to trying to find a solution and not a quick fix but I definitely felt like the stretched that stuff out for far too long.
Don't even get me started about this whole subplot "romance" with Renard, the whole thing made me gag and I hated watching it.
The other thing I disliked was Nick losing his powers, when that happened I kind of found myself hitting a wall, like I couldn't bring myself to keep watching and had to take a little break, I can't really explain it but when Nick lost his powers albeit temporarily it just made me lose interest, thankfully they didn't drag this out as long as the whole memory loss thing.
Now we get to season 4 and ohh boy its a doosey.
First things first I really hate what they did to Juliette, to me she was a place of comfort for Nick, a safe place for him to go and generally I really liked the wholesomeness of there relationship, their loyalty and willingness to help each other no matter what, in season 3 when Juliette was onboard with all the Wesen stuff and was working with the team, that was the absolute best, her relationships and friendships with Rosalie and hank and Monroe were veryy enjoyable to watch. For her to burn those bridges especially the way she did just baffles me. Like why decide to do all this now, when she already chose to help Nick through all this time, and for all the things Nick has been doing and done for her.
I get that she is getting corrupted by her hexenbeast side but still, it just doesn't make sense to me, it really doesn't seem like the hexenbeast is doing this, it just seems she suddenly decided to be a huge pain one day. Maybe the writers got bored? Idk. So I guess that is one area that could of been done better. The other thing is betraying Nick's mom....now that is just unforgivable, and the way Nick had to find out what happened to his mom really shocked me not because of the gore...but just from a pure brutality and betrayal aspect.
I honestly don't care about this kid and the whole royals storyline, infact I'm fed up with it but I know its still a major plot point of the series. I roughly know what happens in the next 2 seasons and I'm sure I'll finish the series, its just now with everything that had happened in season 4 it just doesn't feel as enjoyable to watch, especially with Juliette turned full heel. I'm still interest in Nick and his adventures, Monroe and Rosalie are doing the heavy lifting to me right now. But yea those are my thoughts so far.
