Assembling a Napoleon Prestige 500. Screws to put on side burner won't go into the thread. Anyone have similar issues?

It's all 4 screws in all 4 holes. So it's not just one thread that's defective. I got the screws to go in just enough to hold it on, but I obviously don't trust that will hold long term. Do I just need to use more force to get them in?

Edit: ended up using a wrench to get the screws in. Once in, it was much easier to work with. Thanks everyone
