šŸšØSPOILERšŸšØ stop reading if youā€™re not up to s18 yet

okay so first time watcher of season 18 and iā€™ve noticed something that iā€™m questioning.

in episode 8 when theyā€™re in the car, owen tells hayes that heā€™s helped a soldier die with dignity and seems happy about it, but then in one of the early seasons thereā€™s a woman with cancer who wants to die and he flips out?

is that the writers forgetting his reaction or is this to do with sexism or some idea that the soldiers ā€œdeserveā€ it more than the woman with terminal cancer?

would like to hear your opinions bc at this point i really donā€™t know
