I’ve watched this episode several times today, but today I had a thought. What if the parents triggered or exacerbated her condition? I know schizophrenia is a genetic predisposition & it couldn’t have been prevented. But allowing contact between her & her parents before they had her stabilized, IMO, wasn’t a good idea. If they had been estranged due to trauma, and she wasn’t ready or willing to see them, it definitely would have caused her to disappear again, go unmedicated.
Schizophrenia is such a cruel disease, to be manageable but that a patient prefers the disease to the treatment.
