Ty’s closing
Post Body
Some people may care, most people don’t. That’s okay. Ty’s is shutting their doors, a victim of insurance going up. Last day from what I’ve heard is the 21st. I personally may be going the weekend before. If you’re not already a member they might refuse service. Cheers to Ty’s.

This is correct but in all the wrong ways.
Yes they have to cover premiums of 1 $million dollars. In 2017 that cost to a bar owner would be 5 to 7 thousand dollars.
Fine, cost of doing business.
Because the legislation is run by lawyers they have let it stand that not only is one place liable for over-serving someone but any place that person has been is liable.
As a hypothetical example.
A guy starts his night out at Ink & Ivy. Has two beers a burgers and fries and leaves.
That guy then goes to NEAT has two Bourbons and leaves. He is probably getting close to the legal limit now but shows no signs of being drunk.
The guy then goes to City Tavern has one liquor fueled Tiger Frozen drink and leaves.
Walks to Sharkys has one drink and they notice he is becoming a problem and make him leave.
He gets in the car, gets in an accident and kills a car full handicap children and their Newley wed parents.
Who in that list establishments is at fault or did anything wrong?
According to Tort law in SC they are all liable and can all be sued.
Because of that, the cost of obtaining the $1,000,000 premium has skyrocketed into the stratosphere if you can manage to find coverage at all.
This is why the business keep closing
