Obviously this year is the 200 year anniversary of the modern Greek state. I assume, in part at least, to celebrate this there are two major news works being published on November 4th by some of the leading English langauge scholars on Greek history.
They are Roderick Beaton's The Greeks: A Global History and Mark Mazower's The Greek Revolution: 1821 and the Making of Modern Europe. Anyone else as exctied for them as me? Both Beaton and Mazower are winners of the Runciman Award award and I think both are going to be a really fascinating read and an important addition to the recent scholarship on Greek history.
