Hello guys. I am a 28yo American. I have a genuine question about my son's name and whether or not you guys would consider this appropriation so I can take steps to avoid doing so in the future.
I have a just turned 3yo son named Kairos (Κάιρος) I apologize if this is the incorrect spelling as I am using Google translate My wife and I chose this name because at the time we both were Christian and in studying original texts came across this word and it's meaning.
We had been trying to get pregnant for a long time and after discussion thought that the definition of this word was meaningful to us personally and decided if we had a boy that would be his name. Well as it turns out we did.
Another redditor said that I was appropriating Greek culture by using this word as a name without any connection to Greek heritage and I just wanted to ask you guys personally if you feel that way.
Thank you for reading and your honesty and opinion is appreciated.
