Let me start by saying my Dane Hera is fine! She started acting funny on Wednesday pacing and throwing up once in a while. Thursday she's in good spirits but still doing strange gulps and another throw up. Friday morning I take her to the vet, he's a farm vet so he doesn't do x-rays or blood he feels around says her tonsils are infected gives her a shot and sends me on my way. Saturday she's still pretty chipper and still off throws up some water but the vet said it might take 48 hours so I think it's fine. Saturday night comes around and she is dying of thirst drinking any water she can find and proceeding to throw up every time she drinks anything. At 3am I decide, enough is enough and take her to the ER a quick x-ray finds a twisted stomach and she goes straight into surgery. Everything turns out great and she's eating now and happy, the vet said it was a miracle she's alive as she thinks her stomach was twisting and untwisting during the week and is probably the only way she lived with it so long. Long story short do the tacking, save your dog and save yourself $4,000.
