Hello, sorry for the wall of text, but I need to be detailed to explain why I believe I could have hyperthyroidism.
I am unable to put on weight no matter how calorie dense and how frequently I eat.
I have slight tremors in my hands and fingers, I feel super out of it when I wake up, and my body feels like it's shaking when I wake up. My sleep quality is terrible, even though I have no problem falling asleep at the same time every night, and I practice great sleep hygiene after reading Matthew Walker's "The Science of Sleep" book.
I feel cognitively out of it most of the time, even though my nutrition from food is super clean and wholefood based (no processed foods, junk foods, etc.). My vitamins and minerals are covered through diet and the few supplements I take (b complex, selenium, k2, algae oil DHA/EPA, and vitamin C).
I eat plenty of food, and my hunger is always through the roof. Never feel satiated or satisfied no matter how many meals or snacks I eat during the day. People often say that my meals are massive and even when I'm done eating, maybe an hour or two later I'm super hungry (no matter if I've put an extreme amount of protein and carbs with a little bit of fat). I don't drink coffee, drink alcohol, do drugs, and live a clean lifestyle.
I did notice the last few days that my iodine intake had dropped as I ran out of seaweed flakes and was feeling a bit better when it was in my diet previous to last week when I ran out. Could this be an indication that my thyroid isn't really coping that well?
It feels like no matter how well I have optimized my diet, sleep schedule, and exercise (cardio and resistance) that my quality of life only improves very little.
I'm incredibly jealous of those who put on weight super easily and those who wake up feeling refreshed.
My body and muscles feel weak. I have issues tolerating the cold, but mostly the heat. I've had palpitations in the past, but not at the moment. My heart rate is high when I wake up and feel shaky. It just feels like I'm running on fumes.
I have had a neck issue recently in the past 6 months. Especially in the right side of my neck. It just feels super tight.
My functional medicine doctor has ordered a thyroid full panel for when I get back from a interstate trip next week, so it'll definitely give more insight on whether this has been the cause of these issues I've faced most of my life.
Does anyone with hyperthyroidism think that this may be the case based on my post?
Thank you!
