Streaming data change to the ui

I am planning a new angular application using nestJS as the backend. I have been led to believe that I can use graphql to listen to change in there database and stream this back to the UI quite easily. I have used Firebase previously and love this feature.
It's this the case? I'd so can it be done with mysql? Ideally I need a relational database
